If you were never this lucky, this article is for you because I believe I am a dyslexic and never had the opportunity to meet a caring teacher who was dedicated to helping me learn. While dyslexia torments and greatly frustrates the people that suffer with it, employers and those that live with the dyslexic are equally frustrated because of the way the dyslexic mind flip flops much of the information the dyslexic comes in contact with. The frustration of it runs rampant through these groups. It can be the difference of failure or success for the individual suffering with this debilitating ailment. 99 G. Dyslexia affects many Americans in all age groups with all socioeconomic backgrounds. Yes, it was incredibly frustrating, but I also learned how to deal with my dyslexic moments so I could speak and write correctly for him. As a biology major in college writing out DNA sequences, I regularly flipped the amino acids for others not only getting it completely incorrect, but it made my professors wonder how I could possibly continue with a degree in biology.



PUBLIC SPEAKING

Sometimes, in a dyslexic moment, I will be thinking so fast, I will not stop to think about what I am saying. What I have found is the simple task of thinking carefully about what I am about to say will help me compile my words together getting the right pronoun or verb tense in my mind before I start to speak. If you find that you do this, you need to figure out a way to catch yourself so you do not convey an improper message about who you are. For example, if you just stated, "Your good work is a testament to the dedication you had for your company," correct yourself quickly by stating, "Excuse me, what I meant was your good work is a testament for the dedication you have for your company. Part of being a dyslexic who has learned to live with this means you constantly think about what you are saying and writing and correcting yourself whenever you notice a problem.



WRITING

E-mail is an advantage to the dyslexic and incorporating it into your daily routine or how you deal with others will help you minimize the flip-flopping mistakes. This will help you communicate with the world immensely. E-mail can also be the easiest way for you to communicate.


TAKING STANDARDIZED TESTS

Another way to combat multiple choice or standardized test exams is by looking at sample questions for the exam. Lack of understanding of feral cats by people in the community

Instructions are not difficult to follow provided that you take the appropriate steps you need to take to follow them. Items like GPS are also very useful to the dyslexic when driving because the GPS will recalculate the route for you when you make a mistake. Remember that learning how to live with dyslexia will be life long. Come up with a game plan when dealing with standardized testing and always reread the instructions so you know what is being asked for you.
